Using digital screens to support staff
Published on 30 November 2024
Digital screens are often treated as “marketing”. But in busy environments, the biggest value can be operational: screens reduce friction and protect staff time.
If your team answers the same questions all day — opening times, how to book, what the process is, where to go next — a screen can do that job quietly in the background.
Some of the most useful on-screen messages are simple:
- What to do next: “Check in at reception”, “Scan to book”, “Order at the bar”.
- What to expect: approximate wait time, step-by-step process, key rules.
- What’s available: today’s specials, services, upgrades, membership options.
Screens also help with consistency. Staff don’t have to remember exact wording or repeat a long explanation. Your message stays the same, every time, to every visitor.
For Northampton venues with foot traffic — gyms, bars, clinics, hospitality — screens can improve the whole experience. Customers feel guided. Staff feel less interrupted. Everyone moves through the space more smoothly.
The key is design: keep text large, keep messages short, and use video sparingly and intentionally. A loop of clean, calm content works better than a noisy slideshow.
At The ONE Media, we design content specifically for screens: readable, brand-consistent, and structured so it supports your staff rather than distracting customers.
